A Foundation for Healing, Growth, and Lasting Change
at the Long Island Center for Recovery

At Long Island Center for Recovery Inc., we understand that entering addiction treatment for substance use isn’t a one-size-fits-all experience. Recovery is personal. It’s layered with unique challenges, histories, and hopes. That’s why our addiction treatment services are designed to meet individuals where they are—offering comprehensive, compassionate, and individualized care from the first step through every stage of healing.

Whether you’re preparing to begin detox, step into a structured inpatient rehab program, or simply want to know what to expect when you arrive, this page serves as your starting point. Here, you’ll find an overview of our approach to care, the core components of our addiction treatment service, and a sense of what life looks like during your stay.

Addiction Treatment Service: A Full Continuum of Care

Addiction recovery is a process—and each phase plays an important role. At Long Island Center for Recovery, we begin our addiction treatment services with a thorough assessment to determine what level of care is most appropriate for each individual. For many, this starts with medically supervised detox to safely manage withdrawal symptoms. From there, most individuals receiving treatment transition into inpatient rehabilitation, where the focus shifts from stabilization to therapeutic work, skill-building, and long-term recovery planning.

Our addiction treatment team is made up of licensed clinicians, medical professionals, counselors, support staff, and wellness specialists—all working together to provide a treatment experience that addresses the whole person: body, mind, and spirit.

No matter where someone enters the process, we meet them with respect, empathy, and clinical expertise.

Medically Supervised Detox:
Clearing the Path

Detox is often the first step—and it’s a step that requires care, safety, and close medical attention. At Long Island Center for Recovery, detox is conducted under 24/7 supervision by an experienced medical team. Every patient is assessed upon arrival, and their detox protocol is personalized based on factors such as the substances used, the length and severity of use, physical health, and mental health history.

Withdrawal symptoms can range from uncomfortable to severe. Our goal is to provide evidence-based medications approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as well as constant monitoring that minimize distress, ensure safety, and support a smoother transition into addiction treatment. Detox at Long Island Center for Recovery typically lasts around 5-7 days, though this varies depending on the individual.

When a patient completes detox, they don’t leave with a “see you later.” They are guided immediately into the next phase of care—emotionally supported and physically stabilized, with the momentum to continue healing.

For many, detox is intimidating. But it doesn’t have to be isolating or painful. At Long Island Center for Recovery, it’s the beginning of transformation

inpatient rehab

Inpatient Rehab:
Structure, Support, and Healing

Inpatient rehabilitation offers a structured, immersive environment where patients can truly focus on their recovery—free from outside triggers and stressors. For individuals dealing with moderate to severe substance use disorders, inpatient care provides the time, space, and therapeutic intensity required to build lasting change.

Our inpatient rehab program typically lasts 28 days, and includes:

Individual Therapy: Weekly sessions with your primary counselor to explore personal patterns, emotional struggles, and develop coping skills.

Group Therapy: Daily group sessions that foster connection, communication, and shared healing.

Trauma-Informed Care: For individuals receiving treatment with co-occurring trauma, we offer trauma-informed therapies such as Rapid Resolution Therapy® (RRT) to process trauma without reliving it.

Family Focused Programming: Addiction affects the whole family. Our family services rebuild trust, improve communication, and teach families how to support recovery in healthy ways.

Relapse Prevention: Structured workshops to help identify triggers, build self-awareness, and develop long-term strategies for sobriety.

12-Step Fellowship: Patients are encouraged to attend on-site AA/NA meetings and engage with the 12-step framework, offering peer support and spiritual growth.

Specialized Psychotherapy Groups: Focused groups for labor union professionals, first responders, LGBTQ+ individuals, and others who benefit from community-centered healing. These therapeutic components work together to create a cohesive recovery plan that addresses emotional, psychological, and social aspects of addiction.

Nutritional Counseling: Focused on rebuilding the body through balanced meals, education, and individualized guidance.

welcome and orientation

You’re Not Alone:
Addiction Treatment
Welcome and Orientation

We know walking through the doors can be the hardest part. That’s why we’ve built an intentional welcome process to ease the transition into addiction treatment.

Upon arrival, individuals receiving treatment are greeted by staff and a peer greeter—someone who has been through the process and knows what those first hours feel like. New patients are given a tour, introduced to community guidelines, and led through an orientation group to help them understand what to expect.

At Long Island Center for Recovery don’t believe in cold welcomes or sterile introductions. We believe in warmth, presence, and reassurance. Patients quickly see that they’re not alone—they’re surrounded by people who understand and want to help.

philosophy

A Holistic Philosophy

Our treatment model is holistic. That means we don’t just treat symptoms—we help individuals develop new ways of living. Alongside traditional therapy, we offer:

  • Mindfulness and meditation
  • Yoga and light exercise
  • Art-based expression groups
  • Community-building events

Healing happens on many levels, and we make space for all of them. It’s not about forcing anyone into a box—it’s about supporting each individual’s unique path forward.
